Web Design & Online Learning

Last Monday our class met for the first time since Spring Break. Needless to say, I was not prepared for class. We did end up with a substitute teacher because Mr. Willis got married. Our sub taught the class more coding. We added to a code e have been creating for a few weeks now and I see it finally coming together. It is really cool to be able to create something out of nothing!

This week in web design we learned about different tips and ways to design. Check out this article if you want to read more: http://www.creativebloq.com/web-design/training-online-resources-812225

One of the most useful ones on the list of sites would be treehouse. I like that it is a video based service that teaches you about JavaScript and creating iOS apps. I do not like that it charges a subscription fee because I am a poor college student. Another one I found useful would be Codecademy. This free web design training resource runs through the path of building websites, games, and apps in an engaging way, easing users in gently with a very basic first lesson.

The last one I feel was useful is Stackoverflow. Put simply, it’s a place where some of the brightest minds in the web design give up their free time to help those who have got hopelessly stuck. This eek we also learned about MOOS’s. If CA 260 was a completely on-line course I would absolutely hate it. I am currently taking psychology completely online and I am struggling through it. I forget deadline or am not interested in it because there is no real teacher. CA 260 should definitely be an in class course with a teacher that is interesting like Mr. Willis
